Select: Advanced or Standard volume calculation
In any of both modes the Integration region is divided using triangulation. The volume can be performed in two ways:
- Standard: In each triangle the integral is evaluated with the corresponding rule and order. If the rule is of order 1, either Linear TIN, Cubic TIN or Kriging will produce similar values because only data points are used in the calculation. If you request higher order, height values need to be evaluated in extra points and the effect of the different method is noticeable. If you select this option, a new window will appear with the information of the net volume in m3 and Cut volume (if applicable) also expressed in m3. In addition, if available, a light blue region defining the area corrsponding to the Cut will also appear.
- Advanced: Tha mathematical basis for this calculation is somewhat different, and produces not merely the value of the integral but also confidence intervals at the 95% level. It also produces information for the deviation of the volume, as well as for the Cut values. This calculation requires a significant data points located inside the integration region. Otherwise, a warning window states that there are not enough points to perform such calculation, and the Standard one takes place. The border of the integraion region, plus the border of the Cut region (if available) and if required the values themselves will be stored in the Volume layer.
In both cases the window with the resulting information can be stored in three different ways: export to a spreadsheet, export to a CSV file (flat ASCII) or store the numbers inside the drawing.
